Seismology - 4-year PhD studentship

The Geophysics Section of the School of Cosmic Physics, Dublin Institute for Advanced Study, invites applications for a seismology Ph.D. position in regional and global seismic tomography.

The Geophysics Section of the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies seeks expressions of interest from graduating B.Sc. or M.Sc. students who may wish to come to Dublin to pursue a PhD degree in Geophysics funded under IRCSET's ( Irish Research Council for Science, Engineering & Technology) EMBARK Initiative. The competition is fierce, and only those with very strong degrees ("First", ECTS "A", or equivalent) should apply.

The Geophysics Section at DIAS has four groups undertaking research and graduate student training, and are broadly:
EM and inversion group: led by Professor Alan Jones
Numerical modelling group: led by Professor Zdenek Martinec
Seismology group: led by Professor Sergei Lebedev
Marine seismology and potential fields group: led by Professor Brian O'Reilly
