On 9th July 2015 at 05:12:18 UTC, an earthquake of magnitude ML1.9 occurred in the Rockall Trough off the northwest coast of Ireland, location 56.0N, 12.2W.
The event was recorded at Irish National Seismic Network (INSN) stations and at several British Geological Survey (BGS) stations in Northern Ireland and Scotland. See seismogram below.
The most recent events located off the northwest coast of Ireland were a magnitude 1.1 event in the Rockall Trough on 11th November 2014 and a magnitude 4.0 earthquake 100km off the coast of Mayo on 6th June 2012.
