Biographical sketch Eoin attained his PhD at Trinity College Dublin in 2014, with a primary research focus on the dynamics and kinematics of eruptions and shocks in the solar atmosphere. In the same year he was awarded a prestigious Irish Research Council ELEVATE fellowship, co-funded by Marie-Curie Actions, allowing him to take up a postdoctoral position at the Laboratoire d’Études Spatiales et d’Instrumentation en Astrophysique (LESIA) at the Paris Observatory from 2014-2016. While at LESIA he worked on the radio signatures of particle acceleration in the solar atmosphere using the Nançay Radioheliograph, located in central France. Eoin is currently a postdoctoral research fellow at DIAS, working on the Low Frequency Array (LOFAR), a flagship radio astronomy facility recently constructed at Birr Castle, Co. Offaly, and part of a network of similar instrument spread across Europe. He currently uses LOFAR and a variety of other low frequency radio instruments to observe the behaviour plasmas and particles during eruptive activity in the solar atmosphere.
