Title: Microscopic description of Schwarzschild black hole from quantum field theory

Abstract: The gauge/gravity duality relates black hole and QFT. In particular, the ‘small black hole’ in AdS5*S5, which is essentially the Schwarzschild black hole with negative specific heat, should be described by 4d maximal super Yang-Mills theory. But how can such an exotic object be described by healthy QFT? How can the negative specific heat arise?

In this talk, we propose a simple mechanism: partial deconfinement, i.e. SU(M) in SU(N), with M & N, deconfines. Essentially the same phase exists many systems, most notably the ant colony. We explain how the D-brane, open string and black hole correspond to the ant, pheromone and ant trail, and three types of the phase diagram of the ants have the counterparts in gauge theories. From this point of view, Schwarzschild black hole with the negative specific heat corresponds to the unstable ant trail. We also explain the numerical study of QFT aimed for the nonperturbative study of the partially deconfined phase.
