The Case for New Physics Beyond the Current Cosmology

Title: The Case for New Physics Beyond the Current Cosmology

Speaker: Eoin O’Colgain (Asia Pacific Centre of Theoretical Physics)

Abstract: Persistent discrepancies in cosmological parameters, as inferred from experiments, may be pointing to a break down in the cosmological model, Lambda-CDM. We will review experimental evidence for tensions in the Hubble constant and outline how arguments from string theory may be relevant. Time permitting, we will dissect a recent claim that there is a 4 sigma deviation in a high redshift Hubble diagram based on Type Ia supernovae, quasars and gamma-ray bursts. Expect pretty pictures, some math and data
