DIAS Summer Studentships 2020

2019 DIAS Summer Studentships

The Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies (DIAS) conducts advanced studies exploring big questions of the 21st century and beyond. Its research gains insights into Celtic society and its legacy; progresses our understanding of our island, our planet and the universe; and deciphers the underpinning mathematical principles of nature.

The Institute leads Ireland’s participation in a number of international and global initiatives that focus on big unanswered questions for mankind.

Currently, there are approximately 100 researchers hailing from 20 different countries based at DIAS.

In 2020 DIAS is pleased to offer nine Summer Studentships, across the following disciplines

The Studentships are designed for students nearing the end of their undergraduate studies, ideally for students about to enter the final year of their Bachelors Degree. In the case of Celtic Studies only, early-stage postgraduate students may also be considered. Specific details are available on each job posting.

The positions are intended to allow students to receive practical training in advanced research methods and to experience a research environment. The studentships will be for a period of two months, beginning on 02 June 2020, to the end on the 31 July 2020. Each student will be mentored by a designated academic member of staff and will receive a tax-free stipend of €1,500 per month.

The closing date for applications is 5pm on Monday, May 4th*. Successful candidates will be notified by email by the middle of May.

*The closing date for applications for Astronomy & Astrophysics has been extended to 5pm on May 7th.
