FULLY BOOKED: Dublin Festival of History: Cosmic 75 – 75 Years of the School of Cosmic Physics at DIAS (in-person event)
3rd October 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Free
From the first ever Irish experiment in space, to landmark insights on volcanoes, the School of Cosmic Physics at the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies (DIAS) has played a leading role in strengthening our understanding of the world and cosmos around us, and will continue to do so for many years to come.
Founded in 1947, the DIAS School of Cosmic Physics uses the ideas and methods of physics to understand the world around us, from the interior of the Earth to the edges of the universe. The School is organised in two broad sections: Geophysics – focused on the interior and surface of the Earth; and Astronomy and Astrophysics – focused outwards to our solar system and beyond.
For our first Dublin Festival of History event, Professor Luke Drury will take us back to the foundation of the School and bring us on a journey through 75 years of research and discovery.
This event takes place as part of Dublin Festival of History 2022.
Dublin Festival of History is brought to you by Dublin City Council and organised by Dublin City Libraries, in partnership with Dublin City Council Culture Company.
