Outreach

The Geophysics Section operates a very interesting outreach programme aimed at explaining natural phenomena such as earthquakes, tsunamis, their occurrence around Ireland and how the data collected by DIAS is used. This has proven to be very popular with the Transition Year Programme for Secondary Schools. If you would like your transition students involved in this programme, please contact: Thomas Blake, Experimental Officer, Tel: +353-1-6621333 or e-mail Thomas Blake for further information.

DIAS had a stand in the BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition this year, which was very popular amoungst the students and visitors.

Bringing Science to Schools

This program is promoted by Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) which is aimed at funded researchers to go into schools and give presentations based on the science funded. The table below lists possible presentations the Geophysics Section intends to give. If any of these subjects interest you and your school please contact SFI at outreach-at-sfi.ie.
