Cryogenic Turbulence

K.R. Sreenivasan
(ICTP, Trieste)

Abstract:

SUPERFLUID LIQUID HELIUM exhibits quantum mechanical behaviour on alaboratory scale; like the energy levels of an atom, the angularmomentum of vortices in a superfluid is quantized. This gives turbulencein liquid helium some strange particle-like behaviour and this quantizedturbulence is very interesting, not least as a window into classicalturbulence itself.
