27th – 28th September 2013 – Colloquium on Genre in Medieval Celtic Literature

The School of Celtic Studies is pleased to announce that it is hosting a colloquium on genre in medieval Celtic literature on 27–28 September 2013. The aim of this colloquium is to open up the field to discussion of the concept of genre in medieval literature and in particular in the Celtic vernaculars. While recent years have seen a gradual increase in publications on this topic, the potential of the discussion of genre and generic analysis for the Celtic literatures has not yet been fully explored. This colloquium aims to bring together current research on the subject, with a view to exploring the role genre plays in modern scholarship as well as in the medieval understanding of reading and writing.
