Biographical Sketch:
Dr. Devaraj Rangaswamy is an observational and experimental astronomer
with research focusing on studies of the star formation processes. He
works mainly with polarimetric observations and combines
multi-wavelength data in optical to radio from ground and space
telescopes to study magnetic fields and physical properties in molecular
clouds, HII regions, cores, and protostars. He obtained his PhD from
INAOE, Mexico in early 2018 having received the CONACyT fellowship.
During this time his research focused on near-infrared polarimetry of
the interstellar medium, having developed a new instrument called
POLICAN. He completed his Masters in Astronomy and Space engineering in
2012 and worked in Physical Research Laboratory, India on solar
instrumentation related to studying magnetic fields in Sun.
Since
July 2019 Dr. Devaraj has been a postdoctoral researcher at DIAS
working with European Research Council project on Ejection Accretion
Structures in Young stellar objects led by Prof.Tom Ray. With this
project he aims to use spectroscopic and polarimetric data from SPIRou
and ALMA to understand the role of magnetic fields in the formation of
protostellar disks and outflows.
