Title: Complexity and Quantum Field Theory
Abstract: Viewing fundamental interactions as quantum-many body systems has recently led to important breakthroughs in our understanding of quantum gravity and quantum field theory. In the present talk I will discuss a novel set of developments from this circle of ideas based on the notion of complexity, i.e. hardness of state or operator preparation in quantum field theory using limited resources. In particular, I will present how these new results corroborate conjectures on the interpretation of codimension-1 and codimension-0 observables in quantum gravity, as well as discuss an application of complexity to critical systems.
