Biographical Sketch: Andrea Licciardi received his Master in Exploration Geophysics in 2012 from the University of Pisa in Italy, defending his dissertation thesis on Rotational Seismology. He then moved to Dublin in September 2012 to start his PhD in Seismology under the supervision of Dr. Nicola Piana Agostinetti.

Biographical Sketch:

As a geophysicist, I am interested in the development of new methodologies for unveiling the structure of the Earth at different scales, from shallow-crust to the upper-mantle, with a focus on the anisotropic properties of the materials. This includes designing new algorithms for solving geophysical inverse problems. Bayesian statistics and Monte Carlo methods are the two frameworks in which I develop my codes. As a seismologist, I focused my researches on shallow-crust exploration using passive seismic techniques, like Receiver Function and Local Earthquake Tomography. Field measurements required to test the new methodologies are usually recorded by myself during temporary seismic experiments.
