The Friends of Advanced Studies Foundation (CLG)

The Friends of Advanced Studies Foundation is a separate legal entity with charitable status.

The main objective for which the is established is to enable the expansion, and strengthening, of novel ‘blue-skies’ fundamental research and associated education in Ireland for the common good, encompassing the educational, scientific, cultural, social and economic well-being of Ireland.

Novel fundamental research is important not only for the quality of Ireland’s education and research, but also for ‘future proofing’ mankind by ensuring increased knowledge and understanding. Support for advancing pure, novel , exploratory ideas, is however extremely limited in Ireland. The unique mandate of DIAS and its academic community is being leveraged to further the main objective, through the support of individual, or collaborative (Institute, national or international), innovative targeted initiatives.

More information on the Foundation may be found on www.friendsofadvancedstudies.ie (under construction) or by contacting friendsofadvancedstudies@dias.ie
