Awards of the German Physical Society.
The two most important awards of the German Physical Society (DPG) to Ireland and Switzerland. They each include a gold medal and a certificate: Werner Nahm (63) from Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies, the Max Planck Medal for Theoretical Physics for his fundamental work on quantum field theory. In particular, he was able to clarify several basic mathematical aspects that later became important for the development of string theory.
