Research Opportunities

DIAS is a home for fundamental research in Astronomy & Astrophysics, Celtic Studies, Geophysics and Theoretical Physics. We host researchers from all over the world in our Schools.

DIAS also welcomes applications from researchers wishing to apply for external funding, with DIAS as their host research body, where their work aligns with one of our Schools. We will provide the space and facilities for you to develop your research career at Ireland’s only Institute for Advanced Studies, surrounded by the top minds in your field. Enjoy the opportunity to focus 100% on your research.

Application process:

  • Identify the funding programme you would like to apply for, noting their requirements and deadlines for expression of interest and application submission.
  • Contact the relevant School Director or Section head expressing an interest in being hosted by the Section or School. Contact details can be found on the “People” tab of our Schools and Sections on this website. A brief outline of your research plan and up to date CV should be sent. Please copy researchoffice@admin.dias.ie on all correspondence.
  • You must contact us at least eight weeks in advance of the funding deadline to ensure that we have time to consider your application and assist with submission, where applicable.
