In 1983 DIAS hosted the Schrodinger Symposium to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Erwin Schrodinger's receiving of the Nobel Prize for Physics. Below is the original program, as well as the group photo from the event - which includes Prof Stephen Hawking

Stephen Hawking RIP was no stranger to Dublin: he was a key participant in an RIA meeting in April 1979 and a DIAS symposium in October 1983. Photo shown here of later (in honour of 50th anniversary of Schrödinger's Nobel prize) @DIAS_Dublin @RIAdawson Retweeted by STP, DIAS

One of the great communicators of Science has passed - Such sad news... DIAS is extremely proud that Professor Stephen Hawking gave a lecture here @stpdias in October 1983 on Schrodinger's ideas about quantum mechanics & modern developments in general relativity and supergravity
